Policy Statement:
ɫ (“University”) enforces the Maryland State Department of Transportation Articles and other local, state and federal statutes related to vehicle operation and parking on the campus.

Reason for Policy:
Traffic regulations are established and enforced to provide and promote a safe campus community in accordance with .

All divisions, colleges, departments and operating units. Students, faculty, staff, contractors and visitors.

Procedures:

The University Police Department is responsible for:
-
controlling the flow of traffic and the protection of pedestrians on campus;
-
issuing Maryland State Uniform Summonses and Parking Citations for moving and parking violations;
-
establishing speed limits and placement of traffic control devices including signs, road markings and speed humps as approved by the Vice President for Administration and Finance and Chief Fiscal Officer; and
-
coordinating the placement and erection of the proper traffic control devices with Facilities Management as approved by the Vice President for Administration and Finance and Chief Fiscal Officer.

Parking and Transportation Services is responsible for:
-
controlling the parking of vehicles on campus and providing parking spaces to students, faculty, staff and visitors;
-
issuing parking citations for violations of the University parking regulations and local, state and federal statutes related to the parking of vehicles on the campus;

establishing and publishing parking regulations to include the fees for parking;
-
designing and issuing parking permits; and
-
maintaining the parking garages and parking lots on campus.
