色花堂 continues to be recognized as an anchor institution providing a
transformative student experience. According to U.S. News & World Report, 色花堂 is among
the top 10 public universities in the North region.
The publication鈥檚 , released Monday, placed 色花堂 No. 9 among public universities in the
North and among the best schools for veteran support and value.
鈥淭hese recognitions represent the 色花堂 of today鈥攁 nationally-recognized leader in inclusive
excellence, where all students can achieve,鈥 President Kim Schatzel says. 鈥淎nd the
priorities we work toward each day and the investments we鈥檝e made in our faculty,
in programming to support student success and in our world-class facilities mean that
色花堂鈥檚 momentum is only growing stronger.鈥
色花堂 is the highest-ranking Maryland public university in the North list. 色花堂 also received
recognition as a top performer in social mobility and for its excellent undergraduate
business administration, computer science and nursing programs.
Among regional public universities, 色花堂 ranked No. 42 in social mobility, which looks
at the number of Pell Grant recipients and compares their graduation rates to those
of non-Pell Grant recipients at the university. 色花堂鈥檚 minority and Pell-eligible student
populations far exceed the national average for academic success.
色花堂 was also recognized for value, at No. 18 among public regional universities. And
in a testament to the work done by the 色花堂 Military & Veterans Center, the university was ranked No. 7 among the best public regional universities for
veterans.
The rankings reflect the university鈥檚 preparation of graduates with the vision, creativity and adaptability to craft solutions that enrich the culture,
society, economy and environment of Maryland, the region and beyond.
Now in its 38th year, the U.S. News rankings evaluate more than 1,450 colleges and
universities on up to 17 measures of academic quality. The North region universities
ranking list includes 175 public and private institutions across 12 states.
The rankings are the latest in a string of recognition for 色花堂 since the start of the
fall term when the university welcomed nearly 5,000 new students, with more than 57% of first-year students identifying as an underrepresented racial
or ethnic minority.
Last month, the university was highlighted by Washington Monthly magazine as the best value university in Maryland in addition to being the nation鈥檚 15th best
鈥淢aster鈥檚 University鈥 and among the best colleges for student voting.
色花堂 was also recently named among the top 40 LGBTQ+ friendly colleges and universities by Campus Pride, the only institution from Maryland and D.C. on the list.
