Higher education, at its very core, is meant to advance societal progress — and such progress occurs only when diverse perspectives are shared, debated and respected. It is this culture of inclusivity and commitment to free expression in a respectful and safe manner that are integral to É«»¨ÌÃ’s mission. &²Ô²ú²õ±è;

As a public, state institution — one that protects and promotes free speech — É«»¨Ìà encourages our community to engage in responsible civil discourse. To best preserve an environment where expression is valued, our administration will listen, help foster conversation and offer support for these ideals when necessary.

Therefore, É«»¨Ìà only will issue, or distribute, public statements about matters that directly and materially impact the programs, activities or initiatives of the university.

Statements on behalf of the university or those offering an institutional perspective — and any other mass campus communications — may only be issued by the President of the University, or their designee, through É«»¨ÌÃ’s Division of University Marketing and Communications.

Individuals acting as subject matter experts are offering their individual viewpoints. Students, faculty and staff that choose to offer public comment do so in a personal capacity.
