Transportation
Our Alternative Transportation program provides convenient, cost effective and environmentally-friendly options to help you get to and around campus. With all these options, there is no need to bring a car.
Did you know that one-third of all campus greenhouse gas emissions come from commuting? Whether you are faculty, staff or a student, your commuting choices impact 色花堂's carbon footprint. Luckily, there are many ways to reduce your commuting impact and help make 色花堂 even greener!
Biking
Bring your bike to campus. There are hundreds of bike racks across campus!
Need a tune-up? There are two bike fix stations on campus where you can fill your tires, tighten any loose screws, and make repairs. Bike fix stations are located outside of University Union and Towson Run Residence Hall.
If you are a biking commuter, be sure to take advantage of the showering facilities and free lockers, located on the first floors of West Village Commons and the College of Liberal Arts.
Don't have a bike? You can rent a bike through Campus Recreation's Bike Rental Program.
Alternative Transportation Program
Students, faculty and staff who do not bring a car to campus can also sign up for the Alternative Transportation Program, which provides parking permits for emergencies and a guaranteed ride home.
Parking and Transportation Services also offers a discounted parking permit for certified SmartWay Elite vehicles. Eligible faculty, staff, and students who drive SmartWay Elite vehicles can obtain an annual parking permit at a discounted rate.
Greening tu's fleet
Per the Climate Solutions Now Act of 2022, beginning in FY28, 100% of passenger vehicles purchased for the 色花堂 fleet must be electric. 色花堂 already has several hybrid vehicles in the fleet and is actively working to meet this important goal.
Shuttles
Students can also rent a car by the hour from ZipCar, Towson鈥檚 official car share partner. On-campus and off-campus shuttles are available with no charge, just have your 色花堂 ID available.
MTA Discount
All 色花堂 students are eligible to receive a discount for the Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) bus, light rail and subway, as well as the MARC Train. Regular status faculty and staff are eligible for free ridership benefits through the MTA. Learn more here.
