Your EMF advisor will help you with more than simply building your course schedule. Your advisor will also assist in helping you achieve your academic and professional goals.

To be assigned an EMF advisor, you must be admitted (or transferred) to 色花堂 and be a declared Pre-EMF major or minor. Applications are evaluated in January, June and August.

Advising is Mandatory

Students are not able to register without first seeing an EMF advisor who will remove your advising hold. Students should be familiar with and able to use your Online Services account.

Who is my EMF advisor?

You will be assigned an EMF advisor who will assist you during your entire career at 色花堂. You can find your advisor by logging into your Online Services account. Once you are in Online Services, go to SA Self Service>Learner Services>Academics>View My Advisor. If you don't see an advisor assigned, contact the EMF Department at 410 704-3184.

How do I prepare for my advising session?

How do I register?

To register, make sure your advisor removes your advising hold at the end of your session. Then, register for classes by logging into your Online Services account.

Students are expected to familiarize themselves with their Undergraduate Catalog and degree requirements. As the 色花堂 Catalog states, 鈥淔ailure to satisfy all published degree requirements does not provide a basis for exceptions to academic requirements or policies. It is expected that students will receive assistance from general academic and faculty advisers, but students must assume responsibility for completing published degree requirements.鈥 

How do I go from pre-EMF to EMF major?

All EMF students begin the EMF program as pre-EMF majors. To be admitted to the full EMF major, all pre-EMF students must attain a 3.00 GPA in the following three core courses:

  • EMF 120 Concept and Story
  • EMF 140 Introduction to Electronic Media and Film
  • EMF 221 Principles of Film and Media Production

Transfer students may complete the equivalent courses at their previous college or university, but they must attain the overall 3.00 GPA in the equivalent courses.
